We are so fortunate at Ron Southern to have such a wonderful community. This year, we had multiple highlights, from our first-ever Grade 6 leadership team to our ever-growing list of clubs (which included multiple Baton teams!) and the Indigenous residency, just to name a few. We extend our heartfelt thanks to all our staff who ensure that Ron Southern is a safe and caring place to be. Special appreciation goes to Ms. Plewis and Ms. Rebecca in the front office for graciously steering the ship. Mr. Steven and his team help keep our school well-maintained and incredibly clean. A big thank you to Ms. Dorothy and all the wonderful Educational Assistants and lunchroom team who do amazing work with our students every day. We are also grateful to our teachers who consistently elevate the curriculum and ensure that students have quality learning experiences, resulting in significant growth for each student, both socially and academically.
A special shout-out to our incoming and outgoing School Council for their incredible dedication and 'can do' attitude. We deeply value the support you provide to the school.
We want to also extend a special farewell to our Grade 6 students; we will miss them dearly. To any other students who are moving from our community for the next school year, thank you for your positive contributions to life at Ron Southern. Have a wonderful summer, and we are excited to see what the next school year brings.
Staffing Updates 2024 – 25
June is a time of year when we bid farewell to staff members who are moving to new schools or pursuing new opportunities in their careers, and welcome new staff to our Ron Southern family. We want to express our gratitude to Ms. Zittlau, Ms. Piper, Ms. Storoshenko, Ms. Benjamin, Ms. Sparrow and Mr. Graham for joining our school mid-year and supporting our students both academically and socially.
As part of teachers' professional growth and career experiences, it is important that they seek new opportunities and challenges. This year, our teachers who are leaving our school are moving into new leadership roles as learning leaders within the board. Their impact on our school beyond the classroom will be missed, and we are proud of their achievements. We bid a fond farewell to Ms. Rowntree (Grade 1), Ms. Smith (Grade 4), and Ms. Burton (Grade 5/6). Ms. Mastin (Grade 4) will be taking on the challenge of teaching grade 3 in French immersion. We would also like to extend a special congratulations to Ms. Gunderson, who is retiring after 46 years of teaching. We appreciate her commitment and dedication in providing students with a rich musical experience through her classroom and various choir and handbell clubs. We will miss all of them and thank them for their thoughtful, dedicated, and impactful work with our students. We wish them the best of luck in the future!
