We would like to thank all the families that were able to attend our School Council meeting last week. It was nice to have many new faces who shared their perspective, passion and fresh ideas. We were able to fill all our positions and look forward to working our new council.
Our past council did an amazing job in terms of building our school community. From starting off as a tiny school to the big school we are now, their commitment to Ron Southern went beyond the expectation of a School Council. On behalf of the Ron Southern School community we would like to thank Suzie, Kelly, Cathryn, Erin H, Erinn G for their dedication to Ron Southern School. If you happen to see these wonderful ladies, please take the time to thank them personally.
An update on our Indigenous Residency. Due to unforeseen circumstances, Jessie Fiddler-Kiss had to reschedule her time with us. She is back now and will be working with our Div I students on Feb 7 & 8 as well as March 6 & 7; and our Div II students on Feb 21 & 22 as well as March 13 & 14.
Family Literacy Week takes place every January to raise awareness about the importance of reading and engaging in other literacy – related activities as a family. Taking time every day to read or do a learning activity with children is crucial to a child’s development and improving a child’s literacy skills. To support families, the CBE has created a visual for literacy with various literacy resources for families to use at home.
We would like to wish our Buddhist families a Happy Mahayana New Year and like to apologize to our Orthodox families as we missed acknowledging Orthodox New Year on Jan 14.
