It was wonderful to see so many of our families attend the Winter Concert last week. The students had so much fun performing for such a big audience. Thank you to our Parent Society who supplied us with yummy candy canes.
Tomorrow is Winter Solstice. In the Indigenous culture, Winter Solstice is a celebration of light returning. It is the shortest day of the year; Grandfather Sun will begin to shine for longer each day bringing the promise of warmer weather, growth, and new life. Elder Saa'kokoto has shared that the Solstice begins a new year in Blackfoot tradition. It is a time for reflection, to look back at past moons and look forward to the “new sun” of the future; a time to appreciate what has transpired during the past year, the lessons that have been learned, and to set new intentions for the time to come. What a perfect time for all of us to reflect as we head into the new year.
For our families who will be celebrating Kwanzaa - Wishing you wisdom and joy this Kwanzaa. As well, to all our families that celebrate Christmas – Merry Christmas. We hope Santa is good to you. On behalf of the Ron Southern Staff, we wish everyone a fun and relaxing winter break. We will see you in 2024.
