Today, on the summer solstice and National Indigenous Peoples Day, we recognized “in a good way” what it means to be Treaty 7 people.  One way we do this is by reviewing our (Truth and Reconciliation Commitment) TRC commitment.

For the 2023-24 school year our TRC commitment was focused on developing a relationship with Indigenous knowledge keeper.  This year we fostered a relationship with Jessie Fiddler-Kiss.  Through her work with students and staff we were able to explore our relationship with ourselves, community, the land, and Indigenous ways of knowing.  This experience cumulated into a final art piece that each student contributed to, and we are looking unveiling it in the 2024-25 School year.

For the 2024-25 school year, we are looking forward to continue to strengthen this relationship and how we connect Indigenous ways of knowing into the curriculum.  Our full TRC commitment can be found on our website, here.

We value our TRC commitment as it helps us develop a deeper connection with the land, Indigenous ways of knowing and continue our journey towards truth and reconciliation.
