Save the date for our Meet the Teacher Open House on September 21 from 4:30 to 6:30pm. The purpose of Meet the Teacher is to see your child’s classroom, hear about the programing and expectations as well as ask general questions you may have. Presentations will start every 30 minutes and run for approximately 20 minutes. Please understand this is not a one-on-one meeting time with the teachers. If you require a one-on-one meeting with the teacher to share specific information about your child, you will be able to book an appointment on Friday September 22 between 8:00am to 1:00pm. As teachers are just getting to know each of their students, they will not be able to share specifics around academics. If this time does not work for you, please connect with your child’s teacher and they can make alternative arrangements. For our E.E.S. students, the teacher will be contacting you to set up a one-on-one meeting time. We are also excited to share that council will planning a special surprise during our open house. More details will be in next week’s Trailblazer.

It is nice to see kids settling into their classroom, getting to know their teachers and making new friends. For teachers and Admin, September is a month of collecting information and data so that we identify each of the student’s strengths and areas of growth. Teachers will use diagnostic assessments, as one method to understand the learning needs of each of their students. Diagnostic assessments are standardized assessments that highlight student strengths and areas of growth in numeracy and literacy. As a staff we will also be looking at school-based data, such as PATs, Report Card data, Surveys etc. to identify areas we should focus our professional development and growth on.
