Every year we engage with stakeholders and analyze student data to set priorities for the school year. Cumulatively, this work informs our School Development Plan (SDP).
As a system, we have changed how we structure and report on our school development goals. One of these shifts is moving from three goals to a single goal that impacts learning excellence, student wellness and truth & reconciliation, diversity and inclusion.
Last year we saw overall improvement in the percentage of students who achieved a mastery level of understanding in math, when comparing February to June report card data. However, when we dug deeper into the data, we noticed that the improvement was not inclusive for all our learners. As such, we have landed on the following new school development outcome for this school year:
- Student academic engagement in math will improve through teachers incorporating equity practices into their task design.
Through this outcome we are working towards:
- Empowering student voice and thinking in the math classroom
- Building student confidence in learning
- Cultivating a positive mathematical identify for each student
More in-depth information and analysis of our school data and SDP goal will be presented at this week’s school council meeting.
