As we continue our journey toward achieving the goals outlined in our school development plan, I am pleased to share some exciting updates with you.

Firstly, in our younger grades our literacy initiative has been making significant strides, particularly through the implementation of the UFLI (Understanding Foundational Literacy Instruction) program. This program has been instrumental in fostering a deeper understanding of foundational literacy skills among our students, equipping them with the tools they need to excel in reading and writing.

In our older grades our literacy efforts have been focused on targeting the role of structure in both fiction and non-fiction texts. We have witnessed notable improvements in both the quality and complexity of student writing across all grade levels.

In mathematics, our staff have been using MathUp from Marian Small, particularly focusing on the use of open-ended questions. We have found by shifting the focus from the answer to the mathematical thinking behind their solutions, students are better able to deepen their understanding of mathematical concepts and foster a positive math identity.

We are proud of the progress we have made thus far and remain dedicated to furthering our goals of academic excellence and student success.
