March 20th is the spring equinox.  Elder Saa’kokoto shares that “Springtime is a time of celebration.  It is also a time of reflection-- to look back and learn from the journey we have had throughout the year and how we can carry that forward”.  This teaching reminds us that as we step into conferences and spring break, we should acknowledge the efforts and growth of our students as well as consider how these successes can be used to support their learning as we enter the final stretch of learning for this academic year.

World Down Syndrome Day (WDSD) is observed every year on March 21st. The 21st day of the 3rd month symbolizes the triplication of the 21st chromosome, which causes Down Syndrome. This year, WDSD falls on Friday, March 21, 2025. Throughout the week, teachers will be working with students to help them understand Down Syndrome and how we can advocate for those with Down Syndrome.

To show our support, we invite all students and staff to "Rock Your Socks!" By participating in the "Rock Your Socks" celebration, you'll help raise awareness and unite in advocating for the rights, inclusion, and well-being of people with Down Syndrome.

Wear your LOUD, WILD, and MOST FUN pair of mismatched socks as a symbol of support for those living with Down Syndrome on Thursday, March 20, 2025
