At the CBE, we are committed to involving stakeholders in decisions that affect them.  Feedback from families help inform decisions related to school planning, which includes the school development plan, school budget and school fees.

  • School development plans outline how student learning will be improved over time.  The plan is updated each year based on various data sets.
  • The school budget provides funding to implement the school development plan and other supports for student learning.
  • School fees are necessary when costs for services and activities exceed available funds.  Fees are applied so schools can offer a variety of services and activities such as in school experiences, field trips and athletics.

We strongly encourage all families to their perspectives and ideas on the school development plan, school budget and school fees through our online survey, which will remain open until Feb 21, 2024.

Professional learning is essential for all staff at the Calgary Board of Education to keep current in their role and growth as professionals. Every February, teachers from Calgary Board of Education, Calgary Catholic School Board and private schools attend Calgary Teachers Convention.  Teacher’s conventions were established through legislation in the province for the purpose of providing teachers with the forums whereby they can renew their professional skills on an annual basis.   Teacher’s Convention focuses on the needs of individual teachers in attaining new knowledge and trends in teaching, school organization and to establish and broaden communications with other teachers on matters of professional concern.  Additionally, the Calgary Board of Education hosts a support staff convention for our staff in the system that hold a non-teaching role.
